For my local readers--
Tuesday is the primary elections, and while most don't really care about those, there is one big issue on the ballot: the zoo. They are trying to get a millage passed for the zoo, and for the average household ($200,000 home), the tax would be $10/year. The zoo will then offer a $10 (or so) discount on family memberships.
The city of Detroit owns the zoo but does not financially support it at all! In Ohio, all the zoos are supported by millages, and the lowest one is four times the amount our zoo is asking for. (The Toledo zoo is FOURTEEN times our amount!)
The millage needs to pass with at least 60% of the vote, so get out and vote! Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
