A Busy Weekend!

This weekend we watched our friend's 14 month old son, Jason. He has stayed with us before, so he is familiar with us and our critters. He is one of the happiest babies I know, and Josie especially gets along with him. She seems to think that his petting is like a deep tissue massage! Sadie does well with him too, but she got a little jealous this time and didn't like it when Jason started picking up one of her toys (we don't let him play with them, but Sadie seemed to have forgotten that!).

On Saturday we learned that he is only taking 1/2 hour naps instead of the 2 hour naps he did last time we had him. That was not cool! However, we did wear him out enough on Sunday, and he took a 2+ hour nap that afternoon. We can't complain too much; we put him to bed early, and he sleeps through the night.

Here he is after his nap on Sunday. It was a gorgeous day so we played outside while Mark reseeded the grass that Sadie killed.

I have been picking up toys at garage sales and thrift stores and now have a good collection. This phone is one that we got at a garage sale on the way home from church. Unfortunately, I put all the toys in hot soapy water to clean them, forgetting that electronics don't do so well with that. One button is working on it today, which is one more than yesterday, and hopefully the other buttons will start working again soon! **Update: ALL the buttons are now working. I guess that I didn't kill it after all!!**

It was neat to watch Mark and Jason interact. Mark does well with diaper duty (he got the first stinky diaper), and he does breakfast. I got after him at lunch for putting too much yogurt on Jason's spoon, but Marks told me that they do "big bites" not baby bites like the ones I give him. I sure was surprised when Jason was able to get it all in his mouth. Mark had fun with his "little man." We are definitely ready to have a baby of our own!

The Last of the Arizona Pictures

On New Year's day we went to the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe. I think that there were about 60 of us once the executives and guests came. At first Mark and I were disappointed that we weren't there for the national championship game to see Ohio State play, but after watching the games, we definitely got the better of the two!

Here we are in our executive suite. Notice that we were Boise fans--and we definitely picked the right team!

At the VIP tailgate party (the largest one in college football), I tried rock climbing. The first time I didn't think that Mark's pictures were good enough, so I did it again. However, the second time I was too focused on Mark taking the pictures to prove that I had done it that I didn't pay attention to what I was doing. So, I landed on the ground, and everyone laughed at me--including the rock climbing guy!

Not too bad for someone who has never really done it before!

Here we are at the downtown Tempe New Year's Eve party. It was amazing how many Boise State fans were there. They were saying the entire state came for the game, and it sure did seem like it! Notice our matching WM attire??

This was the view out the back of our suite. We used our back door, so this is what we saw every morning.

The best part of the trip was when Mark leaned over and told me that he had never felt so relaxed in his life. We didn't have to worry about anything--all the details were covered and all the expenses were paid. I keep telling Mark to work hard so that we can go back next year!

More Arizona

At the recognition dinner. WM gave us a blanket, a watch for Mark, and a bracelet for me. This was after getting a gift bag at the welcome reception the night before. That bag had matching WM hats and jackets for us, a large Arizona picture book with a personalized message from WM inside, party beads, candy, chapstick, bandaids, tylenol, and tums! (Oh yeah, and a couple hundred in cash!!!)

Our Trip to Arizona

Yeah! I figured out how to post pictures! I plugged in my memory stick to see what pictures are on it, and these are some that I found.

In December, Waste Management recognized Mark as an outstanding employee and sent us on an all-expense paid trip to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl. Mark was one of 30 chosen (out of 56,000!!). We stayed at a resort in Scottsdale, and our suite had a private in-ground hot tub out back! We also went to a spa, had a Carribean lunch by the pool, went to a recognition dinner with the "high ups" from WM, and basically had a blast!

I need help!

I want to post pictures, but I cannot figure out how to do it. We have high speed internet, but my computer is ancient--9 years old!!--so it is taking forever for me to do anything today. Can anyone help me??

Well, we finally got around to setting up (and actually posting on!) a blog. This does NOT mean that we are pregnant or have any exciting news to share. It just means that after three very long years, we finally got internet at home.
